WLSCC - Day 1 [RP2IPBP led by Craig]

Day one of the 2009 Whitmore's Landscaping Super Cross Cup Weekend was a blast.

Beyond Py efforts not being able to race he still went there with his friends for watching and reporting, he managed to snap 410 photo (raw) and collect some HD material, see here for a quick cut up:

Post post post...

Py is in some hard to explain post surgery pain, well, hardly can be any nice to have wires in your wrist -- like some one put a fork in it just to hold that carpal bones together in place... even with some Hydrocodone drug what makes it bit more bearable, it feels like on constant fire. Not even talking about moving it.

And on top of it, such a magnificent nice day today out here, almost 20C, sunny, dry -- could hardly be any better -- and all he can do is watch it. Now, this Cyclo Cross Event in front of his door, and potentially stuck home, even worse...

PS: a little entertainment

FYI:

Do not miss this exciting weekend on Long Island! Py thinks this is the with most Elite women & men riders participating bike event on LI.

Looking forward to this years fun cross weekend and two race days all year, and now he already got signed up this year in acknowledgements of his last years volunteer support with photography and after productions plus he is in proud possession of a race license -- all set.... and now, this really really suc***, he has to stay off his Stonie Cross Bike -- but will be there to watch and for sure with his Camera, as much as possible.

Did he already told you how much he hates (some, and one is too many) LI drivers and roads?, well, now even more.

Diagnosis

Py spend a good time at the ER, doctors offices and the radiology lately. His left hand got like a balloon and all kind of blueish purple colors.... while the other "just" hurts with little load on it.

Today's ride was kindly with Craig to the Southampton doctors office -- have to admit a very promptly and quick responsive service :-)

The result of the CAT scan, here a few views of the damaged bones o-[

ct-2.jpgct-1.jpg

In addition to the 2mm separated distal radius fracture, the CT revealed two more hand bones (Py did not remember the exact names) were shattered and all needs to be pinned together once the swelling goes down. For that he got a special workout prescribed: just hold/place the hand 24/7 20 inches above heart level.

And a big big Thank You
to all his so welcoming and supportive
bike buddies and co workers !

Trevors #2 - man down

Finally Py is home from a great ride

IMG_7468.jpgIMG_7473.jpg

what ended with rider Py down after collision with car a few 100 yards from the finish -- just making a right turn... (Py does not remember much, as the car was all sudden there in the middle of the road.) -- now trying to relax after 5 hours in the ER for just some X-rays: minor dislocated left radius at wrist + badly swollen/bruised hand. Not so great, but amazingly, that's all. Car side is dented all along and the mirror got ripped off o-) Seams Py was pretty lucky.

RP2IPBP -- the leaves are fallen

A very nice late fall day, clear crisp blue sky, sunny and only little wind. Starting out a bit chilly at about 5C and warming up to almost 10C at noon. Only the recent usuals showed up this morning at Tildas. Going for a steady comfortable pace today. Still looking pretty, but the leaves are almost all fallen. Py took a few chances to grab his tiny camera out of his pocket once sitting at the end of the pace line for a few entertaining shots and clips, enjoy.

The old route with little wall addition
.

Stats: 94km / 3h00' with little extra spiral around home to home to get this final WPP: +12
